ABOUT ME!

Rhayisa (aka Rhys ; they/she)

Above are some extra links, including my pronouns list and global aid resources for ways to help out!

Hello! My name is Liwa, but you can also call me Luo or Kio. I'm a non-binary SEAsian (Filipino diaspora) illustrator based in California. I enjoy baking, barista things, and playing video games. I also have a penchant for making OCs and waving them around like flags. I draw at the pace of a snail, and am always learning new techniques to apply to my work. I'm no machine after all, and all my work is born from love and enjoyment for my craft. My current projects in development are Horizon's Elegy and Looking Glass, all featuring a plethora of characters dear to me. I also have some independent OCs for lower-stakes storytelling worlds and fan characters. I love yapping about my beans, so consider yourself warned! Rhayisa is also my flagship OC (seen to the side) from Horizon's Elegy, and you might notice that I draw them far too much.I'm currently going through personal changes in my life, so my activity fluctuates. If you're interested in working with me or have business inquiries, please reach out via my email: [email protected].

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

NOTE: My stories and art may contain sensitive and/or suggestive topics. Most will be tagged accordingly, but I won't have warnings labeled for everything. Please limit any interaction with me if you're below 18. I also do not have a DNI of any kind on my profiles. However, I freely curate my own experience and will block whatever makes me uncomfortable. Please do not take it personally if this happens to you!

  • What do you use to draw?

  • — I primarily use a Huion Kamvas Pro 13 and Clip Studio Paint for all my art. When I'm on the go, I use an iPad Air 5th Generation.

  • Where can we find you and your work?

  • — I'm primarily active on Bluesky and Instagram. Those are the two places you'll really find me on. I no longer use Twitter for obvious reasons. More recently, I've revived my Tiktok for art posting. I also have a Telegram channel which is treated more as an archive. My Tumblr is used for the same purpose.

  • What brushes do you use?

  • — They tend to switch up often, but I do have some brushes I use more consistently. For sketching and linework, I typically use these brushes: (Perfect Flat, Fluffy Pen, Kio Brush). For coloring and rendering, I use a modified CSP G-Pen and the following brushes: (Gatas Pencils, Like Milk)

  • Do you take commissions/are your commissions open?

  • — Yes, I do take commissions over on my VGen linked above. Please check my status there for openings!

  • Any interests you have?

  • — My interests tend to fluctuate over time. Some of my more consistent ones include Overwatch, Dragon Age, Houseki no Kuni, Nier, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and Wuthering Waves.

  • Can I repost your art?

  • — I kindly ask that you don't repost my artwork, regardless if you provide credit. Thank you!

  • How can we use your art?

  • — Although I draw fanart once in a blue moon, you may use it as headers or icons as long as you properly and visibly credit me. Please do not use my OCs, however, as they are very personal to me. In a similar vein, please do not use my OCs or any designs as faceclaims for your characters. The same applies to my own stories. You can take some extent of inspiration, but please do not blatantly copy my work.

  • Can we be art friends/art mutuals?

  • — Please interact with me normally if you wish to get to know me. I'm uncomfortable with being asked this question out of the blue, as it comes off very disingenuous. Unfortunately, I've been approached this way several times before.

PERSONAL PROJECTS

Lore DocumentPlaylist

A world with subtle elements of science-fantasy and cosmic/eldritch horror, intentionally blurring the lines between high and dark fantasy. This is the first series in my overarching universe, titled "Tomes of the Arbiter", and it introduces a world threatened by supernatural colossi. At its core, the story explores the inevitability and complexities of change in all its forms, and how we define ourselves through it. This is the home of my flagship OC and many more!

Lore Document (COMING SOON) ⬩ Playlist

A rework of my very first major world from 2019, originally titled "GENESIS/CODE". Looking Glass takes place in a cyberpunk future with elements of supernatural fiction. It features brutalist architecture and liminal imagery. The story comments on utilitarianism and how we may rely on the worst aspects of humanity for the sake of survival. However, there is still a sense of hope despite everything. This setting features revamped versions of my oldest OCs, as well as newer faces.

◈ COMING SOON

Rosy Retrospection: A slice-of-life, avant-garde series of short stories. While there is a sense of a storyline, some of the short stories are not always connected. It explores concepts of nostalgia (namely "anemoia"), liminal existence, and psychological themes. For the really OG ones, this is a revamp and spiritual successor of a personal webcomic I created in high school titled "DNA".
